As I move through my 83rd year, I often have days where my thoughts are about all the things I haven’t done or done well or didn’t even think about doing. On rare occasions, I have a sense of pride about what I was able to do.

The truth is, despite my failures I have had a rewarding life. I have made a difference in the lives of a bunch of folks (In the hundreds maybe even thousands. This is what they tell me.). The rewarding thing about this is those people are making a big difference in the lives of the people they touch. I hope this continues long after I am gone.

Doing the things I have done with others seemed to make sense for the times. When I look at the challenges facing the next generations I wonder how difficult their problems will be and at what magnitude? The geography is worldwide. Everything that isn’t working affects everything else.

Maybe, in some way that’s always been the case. The speed of communications and the lack of responsibility taken for those communications makes everything going on in the world so immediate. What has us still hating those who are different? What causes someone think that killing another person is a solution for anything?

I know my solutions are too simple. I like simple, don’t you? Just two things could have the world work. Number One, find something that works about the other person and treat it with, thank you Aretha, R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Some will make it more difficult than others, but it can be done.

Number Two, a common project you are working on together. How about setting aside greed and the notion of control? A world that works for everyone would be a good project. And, let’s do this before we destroy the planet. Let’s acknowledge our failures, learn from them and keep on truckin’. Lots of love would be good, too.
