One thing that I have noticed about getting older is I have fewer and fewer conversations with myself about the things I would like to do œsomeday. Maybe it is that I can see a limit to the time available. What I would encourage you to do is to start taking action on your œsomeday list now because someday really never comes otherwise.

What has happened is that my list of possibilities is getting shorter every year. Dont get me wrong, I dont think it has to be that way. I am just reporting the œState of the Union, so to speak.

Ever since I saw Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman do their thing in œThe Bucket List, I have been acutely aware of how many things I have said someday about. I am also aware of, more than ever before, how much I have actually been able to do.

One of the events I have always had on my bucket list is the College World Series, which is college baseballs premier event and ends college sports for the year right about now … more about that another time ¦

We tend to have a lot of œplaces to go on our list but what I really notice lately is I am much more interested in the other half of that old saying, œand people to see. I have been to a fair amount of places. However, I doubt that anyone could cover the world in two lifetimes.

What seems to be much more important to me is the list of people I would like to spend at least an hour with to talk about a favorite subject. Just being able to say I met them doesnt hold much interest for me. My life has been about people and where I might be able to make a difference. Talking with those who have done that in their own unique way would make a great list.

Here are a few on my œBucket List:

PRESIDENT OBAMA – To talk with him about basketball for an hour, the sport we both love, would be cool. Remember, this is my list.

GARTH BROOKS – Two country boys talking about two things: country music and baseball. We might need an hour for each.

QUEEN LATIFAH – We would talk about being a women, being a black woman and her ability to do it all with such great dignity. Ill take as much time as she has to give.

RON SHELTON – Sports, sports movies and how much lifes struggles show up on the field of play. We might need more than an hour. We could also talk about time spent in Taft, CA, the scene of œThe Best of Times.

MORGAN FREEMAN – We would talk about racism and how it has not gone away but has been driven underground by political correctness. I would be really happy just hearing the sound of his voice.

CLINT EASTWOOD – Love his movies whether he is acting, directing or both. What would we talk about? What it takes to be great at something over a long period of time.

There are others I could add but this Super Six would fulfill my dreams quite nicely, thank you. I find one thing in common with them all”great vision for what is possible. I know this by merely looking at the actions they take.
