You have undoubtedly heard someone say that the only thing that actually makes a difference in our lives is the action that we take. Thinking only makes a difference when we turn the thought into an action. Sounds simple, huh?

If it is so simple why is it so extremely difficult at times? First of all, consider that action is not just “doing stuff.” We tend to fill up the space in our lives with motions called “reactions.” Our reactions produce the same effects, so there is no progress except that we may get a little better at doing what we usually do.

This will eventually lead to dissatisfaction, boredom, little sense of accomplishment and very little satisfaction. Without accomplishment and satisfaction it will be difficult to maintain anything but mediocre results. Sound boring? It is.

“What stops us from taking action?”, you ask. There are several things that tend to prevent us from having a rewarding life. Let’s take a look at what some of those are that keep us shackled and therefore limited:

Looking good—What if we fail? What might people say? Don’t flatter yourself to think that people actually care. They have their own concerns. Really!!
Need to do it by yourself—We need other people with fresh views. We need their energy, too.
Getting ready to get ready—You can’t figure it all out before you begin. Take the first action. See how it looks then. Take the next action and repeat.

Figure out where you want to go. Take a step in that direction. What did you learn? Apply that to your next action. Repeat. Daily action works. Little steps, a leap and more little steps. Take a risk. Stretch yourself. No settling for average. Take another risk.
